Hardly is there a flower that evokes a sense of the tropical more than the passion flowers. Passiflora incarnata is the hardiest of the passionflowers and is native to the eastern US where it grows as a herbaceous vine. Maypop has incredibly, intricate purple and lavender flowers that are followed by greenish yellow, delicious and tangy passionfruits. Often freezes to the ground and comes back in the spring.
