Asparagus officinalis 'Equinox' is an early-mid season hybrid that offers high yields from this delicious, all-male variety that has been bred for cool or temperate growing regions. Spears are of medium, uniformed size. Be patient and leave this perennial vegetable to develop during the first year. Harvest from year two and onward. Use cooked, steamed, pickled and raw. Asparagus is a heavy feeder and needs rich manure or compost along with a regular fertilizing regime. Regular asparagus can take three growing seasons to harvest. Deer resistant.
