Description Fine Print

Lamium orvala is rare perennial called balm-leaved red deadnettle. Unlike its ground-covering relatives, it is upright forming neat clumps 12-18 inches high and wide with coarsely textured, medium-sized, heart-shaped leaves that are finely serrated, providing the appearance of a small shrub. Small, orchid-like, hooded, two-lipped flowers offer shades of pinks and purples in interesting patterns appearing in whorls in late spring to early summer. Cut back after flowering to encourage a new flush of foliage, if needed. Requires moist but well-drained soils. Perfect in the shady garden for contrast with fine-foliage plants such as sedges. Pollinator attractor. Deer resistant. Photo credit Wikipedia
