Asparagus officinalis 'Millennium' is an award-winning cultivar developed at the University of Guelph. Expect high yields from this delicious, all-male variety of purple-tipped green spears. Bred to be one of the cold-hardiest of asparagus and adapted to various soil types. Be patient and leave this perennial vegetable to develop during the first year. Harvest from year two and onward. Use cooked, steamed, pickled and raw. Asparagus is a heavy feeder and needs rich manure or compost along with a regular fertilizing regime. Regular asparagus can take three growing seasons to harvest. Deer resistant.
