Description Fine Print

Identical to the standard Cardiocrinum giganteum except that the new foliage is variously coloured with burgundy -- some plants have all burgundy leaves, others have burgundy veins and a burgundy infusion to the foliage, others have burgundy veins set in rich green leaves. The colour fades as the leaves age but they are spectacular and well worth it. They will make you gasp with delight when you come upon them unfurling in your spring garden which will tide you over until they flower at six to ten feet high with large, white, intensely fragrant trumpets with burgundy throats that will tower above your shade garden and be the inspiration for a hastily arranged garden party! This lily takes seven years to bloom from seed and then dies, leaving behind bulblets that will bloom in two to three years. Until flowering they resemble a large shiny hosta. Plant a few bulbs each year to establish your colony. Provide a bit better drainage than the standard form. Our bulbs are usually 4-5 years old which is a perfect age to establish them.
