Description Fine Print

Ceanothus velutinus is a beautiful white-flowered species related to the California lilacs but known as snowbrush, tobacco brush, or red root. It has shiny, aromatic, oval, evergreen leaves and abundant clusters of fragrant white flowers. Ceanothus are nitrogen-fixers thanks to symbiotic bacteria that inhabit their root nodules allowing them to tolerate poor soils. Will attract bees and butterflies. The seeds are eaten by birds.
