Clematis montana 'Rubens' offers masses of small, lovely, pink, fragrant blooms that smell of vanilla. They have contrasting greeny-yellow stamens and are borne in great abundance. Grow in a sunny position to enhance the perfume. Vigorous and easy to grow, this species is one of the most prolific plants available for the garden and can create one of the most memorable of all floral displays each spring. Plant it to grow against a house, on a pergola, or up a tree. Pruning group A.
