Elaeagnus commutata is known as silverberry or wolf-willow. It is native to BC and much of northern North America through the boreal region. It is a shrub or small tree with broad, silvery leaves and fragrant yellow flowers followed by edible fruit and seeds. The fruit is rich in vitamins A, C, and E and is popular with birds. Able to grow in poor soils since it can fix its own nitrogen.
