'Downstream' is a unique and novel bearded iris with standards that lie flat much like an Iris ensata. It offers wonderful rich lavender blue tones that gradually lighten towards the centre of the flowers, each fall with a distinct white stripe. Blooms in the late season with up to seven buds per stem and a lovely fragrance. Tall Bearded (TB) irises, previously known as Iris germanica, have greyish strap-like, pointed leaves from fleshy rhizomes and tall stems of gorgeous, often fragrant, flowers that come in every colour of the rainbow. Divide every two to three years (or when clumps become congested and flowering decreases) just after blooming. Trim the foliage back to a third and plant the rhizomes at or just below soil level. Deer and rabbit resistant.
