'House Arrest' presents an interesting juxtaposition of colours. The standards and the edge of the falls are cordovan - a mix of burgundy and eggplant or rose - and the falls are silvery violet. This is an iris for those discerning, sophisticated gardeners which is a nice way of saying this an odd cultivar for people who like odd things! Blooms mid season on 38 inch stems. Tall Bearded (TB) irises, previously known as Iris germanica, have greyish strap-like, pointed leaves from fleshy rhizomes and tall stems of gorgeous, often fragrant, flowers that come in every colour of the rainbow. Divide every two to three years (or when clumps become congested and flowering decreases) just after blooming. Trim the foliage back to a third and plant the rhizomes at or just below soil level. Deer and rabbit resistant.
