Iris x hollandica or Dutch iris are beautiful hybrids for hot sunny locations. Tiger Mix offers a range of colours including blue, purple, pink, red, orange, and burgundy. Dutch iris make great cut flowers. Plant them in a location with well-drained to dryish soils where they can bake in the summer months when dormant. Overplant with ground covers like thyme, Sedum and Delosperma.
