Malus 'Kingston Black' is a renowned English cider apple that excels in single varietal cider due to its highly aromatic, bittersharp, near perfect balance of sugar, acid and tannins. It is one of the few English varieties that can be used without blending. The fruit is small, dark skinned with tawny red juice. The flesh cannot be eaten fresh. Grown solely for fermented hard cider. Developed in the West Country regions of England in the mid to late 19th century. Rootstock: M.9 (Dwarf). Photo credit Wikipedia
