Plains prickly pear (Opuntia polyacantha) is found from the Canadian prairies south to northern Mexico. 'Imnaha Blue' was discovered by our friend Sean Hogan of Cistus Nursery in Imnaha Canyon, Oregon trailing several feet down a cliff. It has nearly spineless, grey-blue pads and soft yellow flowers. Growth habit is 4 to 12 inches tall and a few feet wide. Polycantha means 'many thorns'. Plant in full sun in sharp draining soil.
