Ribes odoratum 'Missouri Giant' is often called clove currant because of its sweetly fragrant flowers that occur in early spring. These are followed by very large, sweet, flavourful, black berries with a slight spicy character in late summer. A very hardy and disease resistant, upright growing bush. All currants are rich in antioxidants and have a much higher vitamin C content than oranges. They can be eaten fresh or used for jams, jellies, and juices. They are easy-to-grow, self-fertile, and very hardy to at least zone 3. Photo: Wikipedia.
