Rubus x loganobaccus occurred through an accident of breeding. It is a chance cross between the European raspberry (R. idaeus) and the North American blackberry (R. ursinus). Similar to the blackberry but dark red with a combined flavour of both parents offering a uniquely mild and pleasant taste all its own. The seeds are very small, soft and not abundant. A very heavy producer with fruit ripening in summer. The canes are very large and almost thornless and need support. Provide organically rich soil that is well drained with even moisture. Enjoy fresh, frozen, canned, and baked. Attracts bees and wildlife.
