Ixiolirion tataricum is known as Siberian or lavender mountain lily. It ranges from the Middle East to Xinjiang Province of China. Growing to just over one foot tall, it has narrow foliage and beautiful light blue to dark blue or purple flowers with darker veins that look like small lilies. This is a rare species that would look great growing through ground covers at the front of the border, in a naturalized setting such as a meadow, or in a rock garden. Great as a cut flower. Bulbs enjoy consistent moisture during the growing season but are tolerant of drier conditions when dormant.
