Tulipa 'Akebono' is a semi-double Darwin tulip with lemon and butter yellow flowers touched with green and hints of deep pink. Stems can reach 18-20 inches. Darwin tulips are large, vigorous tulips with a squarish cupped shaped. They come in a wide range of colours and are one of the best-performing groups with good hardiness and longevity in the garden for years of colour. Hybrid tulips can persist in the garden for many years. Afterall, they rebloom each year in the fields of the Netherlands. Provide full sun where bulbs aren't shaded by other plants, fertilize with bulb food as soon as they emerge in spring, and allow the foliage to die back naturally after flowering.
