Ixia viridiflora offers one of the strangest and most extraordinary colours in the botanical world: turquoise. The weirdly-coloured flowers can lean towards turquoise green or turquoise blue (sometimes grey blue) with deepest purple-black centres. Rare in the wild, found in just a small area of the Western Cape. Wand flowers or African corn lilies are exotic South African iris relatives that produce spikes of beautiful flowers in a range of bold colours. Usually listed as zone 9, it has survived many winters in the Victoria area planted 5-6 inches deep in gravel. Ixia are also easy to grow in containers in colder regions. Keep in a frost free location for winter. Our bulbs are adult blooming size as of 2023.
