Scadoxus multiflorus subsp. katharinae (syn. Haemanthus) is a special extra large form of the species with tall stems up to three feet high topped with magnificent orange pink globes up to 10 inches across comprised of up to 200 flowers that look like an orange ornamental onion. The decorative red berries can remain on the plant for up to two months. The broad, rippled, light green leaves are held below the flowers atop often spotted stems. This species can be evergreen or may go dormant if conditions cool. Use as a pot specimen placed in the part shade to part sun garden and bring inside for the winter as a houseplant.
