Dicliptera suberecta is commonly known as the firecracker or hummingbird plant. The flowers are exactly that! Bright deep orange and reddish, upward-facing tubular flowers appear in clusters at the top of sturdy stems from summer through fall. They are filled with nectar are a magnet for hummingbirds. The foliage is silvery-green with a soft texture. Easy care. Salt, drought and heat tolerant. Provide a sunny location and well-drained soil. Great in any urban landscape and especially in a butterfly garden. It hails from Uruguay. Deer resistant.
