The eastern redbud, Cercis canadensis, is native from southern Ontario through much of the eastern US. It has beautiful pink to magenta pea-like flowers that form in clusters along the branches and trunks in early spring before the mid green heart-shaped leaves emerge. The flowers are edible and can be eaten fresh or fried. 'Ruby Falls' is a special cross of Lavender Twist and 'Forest Pansy' with weeping branches with striking burgundy purple foliage. It is perfect for small gardens and containers. You can also count on beautiful gold fall colour before the leaves fall to reveal the elegant weeping form that provides nice winter interest, especially when covered with new-fallen snow. Provide a strong stake until plants reach eight feet high. For the 2024 Rare Flowering Tree Pre-Order plants will be in 1g pots and about 2-3 feet tall.
