Verbascum 'Plum Smokey' is a stocky, compact and vigorous mullein with large, dusky lavender flowers held on vertical flower stalks that rise above the handsome, low-growing, semi-evergreen rosettes of nicely formed, silver-green leaves over a long blooming season if deadheaded. Stems can reach 16 inches tall. Short-lived in rich soils, a bit longer-lived in dry soils but will self-seed. Perfect for the sunny border, cottage and gravel gardens, and in the vase. Drought tolerant. Pollinator attractor. Deer resistant.
